Xanthe’s assessor on this course was very impressed with the the impact she made in applying merchandising techniques to different areas of her library - her work on this course was some of the best we have seen.

Xanthe’s success owed a lot to her creativity, determination and resourcefulness and the regular attention she gave to the use, impact and appearance of the areas that she merchandised.

Her feel for the impact of displays and how to draw interest to neglected areas of shelving by using visually stunning book covers had real success. And her understanding of how to use merchandising to make the whole library space look more dynamic and interesting to visitors was highly commendable.

Xanthe shared her experience and learning with staff colleagues to make sure that successful techniques to improve the look of the library space were supported and developed.

Her commitment to making the course work was fantastic to see and we wish her the best of luck with her future plans.

I was definitely able to create a more attractive display simply by using the methods outlined in this course. The interspersed face-forward titles made a big difference to our shelving. It is quickly noticeable when the display books have been borrowed but it is a moment's work to fill the gaps.

I enjoyed this course. While many of the techniques presented here are common sense, sometimes common sense requires attention! This course can now be evidenced when suggesting changes to library organisation, aiding the perpetual battle against 'we do it this way because we always have'!

I would recommend this course as a timely reminder that we need to aim to get stock circulating, rather than fixate on having everything neatly in perfect Dewey/alphabetical order.
